Review:
Two boys make their way along the Mississippi River to the island where they have a boat in the tree, but they soon discover they are not alone. A mysterious man who lives on the island and when they met him, they have a lot of adventures over serious. The setting for this film is the Mississippi River. It dominates the film as it dominates life main characters in this movie. This is not a film about small-town America. There is a small town, where everyone knows everyone, but most of the action takes place in the rural areas, in rivers and in areas not inhabited ecosystem of the rivers. Both boys fourteen years old and their families, the river people, making life uncertain of the river. Life is difficult, but the people who work hard, be honest and reasonable. Mark Twain's writing now, and never seduced a graphic novel, it's the people that he would write. In fact, this film is tribute to Mark Twain: Huckleberry Finn is based on a childhood friend called Mark Twains Tom Blankenship, the name of a character in this film. The film is, in essence, is a modern up-date genre. The two boys played great Ty Sheridan and Jacob Lofland. Their characters to fourteen years old, hard and mature with their environment. Both actors seem realistic and natural in their roles. Chris Pine originally considered for the role of a mysterious stranger, and with blue eyes and youthful, she will look stylish and charismatic as he faced men. I'm sure she had wanted the film good script. But Pines Matthew McConaugheys loss of profits. Robinson Crusoe never been. I doubt that Pine can play this and McConaughey, this role. Actor? This guy looks like he has not done anything, but on the river of life, all his life. You really believe he lived on the island. If an Oscar Best Eating Baked Beans, he will get it! A truly convincing performance! All the performances were great. McConaughey and two boys, but all the supporting cast as well. At first you're not sure which of the family. They were a little cold, but the film kept developed characters. Everyone believed. The role of women, there are three, all powerful and advanced. The beautiful Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde star, Sharon Stone in Casino, show that he can play a gritty here. The young actress Bonnie Sturdivant, boys, get it just right. Old actress is also great, Sam Shepard, whose role with some depth, and it was nice to see Joe Don Baker in small role. All actors playing their roles convincingly. As I said, life is difficult, they are the ones who talk normal, but a little short social home spun philosophy, movies filmed said. This beautiful, beautiful rich color. The river is lovingly filmed, as well as a way of life. This film is a tribute to the life and the river. But when we see a beautiful river scene, we see scenes grittier urban blight and decay and waste. All filmed well. The British film rating 12A, although this reviewer thinks it is not suitable for anyone under 14 years old. There are many different threads and themes for this movie, and it's not clear what will be solved. Friendship, family, life and death, love and violence investigation. Adult themes hidden. Children need to try to find out the truth and act accordingly. This film is very visible through their eyes. But we see a little more of the children to see. What is the truth? What to do? The truth is not so clear, clear as mud, perhaps. No real judgment on the truth or the characters or their results. Their lives are too rich and complex for kind of a simply verdict. So the end of this film might be a fourteen-year-old boy learned something, and others as well as you can. 10/10.
