Review:
Consequently, Nicolas Winding disk Refns has a nice camera and beautiful colors, but somehow not quite seem to work. Almost every shot is rising significantly too long, and it is cheap somehow, like a TV movie or porn, but Im at a loss to say exactly why and how. A good pair of actors including Ryan Gosling, usually note-perfect - looks oddly stilted and place a lot of time, maybe it's just the result of filming in a foreign , clime.Having said that, although there are some subtle, haunting moments along the way, and Kristen Scott Thomas is in a good mood throughout the slightly incestuous (but still pretty darn crafty) mother. And yes, Ryan is beautiful to look at, even if does not get his face mashed in, but I miss the brilliant actor Lars and the Real Girl, and Blue Valentine. It sure would be nice to hear it more than three lines of film one of these days.As say, blood-red lighting, textures, camera, sound, everything is in place to make it work, but somehow it does. Strange.
